RIPPLE
FUSION 360 - LASER CUTTING
DESIGN INTENT
I intend to create a statement piece that highlights the objects that are commonly overlooked within a home.
WHAT IS RIPPLE?
Ripple is a tissue box designed for those of us who want to make the mundane just a little more fun.

This project was laser cut from plywood and really tests the boundaries in terms of the forms and dimensions that laser cutting can successfully produce. Containing a multitude of small, intricate parts, Ripple was a project of exploration that provided me with the opportunity to really define my style while also allowing me to play around with manufacturing.

DEVELOPMENT
The intent for this project was to turn an object that’s typically overlooked into an eye-catching conversation piece using mimetic design. Early on in the decision-making process, I decided that I wanted to mimic water movements and that I would use the process of laser cutting to do so.

When completing Ripple, I really wanted to take the opportunity to explore the capabilities of laser cutting and the ability to create unique and organic forms through flat cuts of wood. The contrast between the material and the softness of water was a driving factor in the creative decisions made to produce the final outcome.
