BRIGHT & QUIET

SKETCHUP - TWINMOTION

DESIGN INTENT

I intend to create a showroom that sells the showcased product, but also educates the consumer on the environmental benefits of the product.

WHAT IS BRIGHT & QUIET?

Most people know nothing about what goes into the making of a product, but if they did, would it impact their decision to buy it?

Bright & Quiet is a concept showroom located in Fortitude Valley, Brisbane, that aims to showcase the circular design process used by Woven Image in the creation of Echo Panel.

Echo Panel is an acoustic panelling, made primarily from recycled PET plastic bottles. The aim of this showroom is to create an experience that really allows the customer to connect with the product itself. The space is filled with biomorphic forms and patterns that represent Brisbane itself and the process used to make the acoustic panel.

The Bright & Quiet showroom is made up of structures that are only temporarily fixed, allowing the entire room to be deconstructed, making it significantly easier when the space needs to be reset.

DEVELOPMENT

When approaching this project, my intent was to create a unique showroom experience that gives the customers a better insight into the product they are looking to purchase. There were a couple of key features that I felt were essential in achieving this, including an interactive, tactile window display and a walk-through of the product life cycle.

The interactive window display features a variety of Echo Panel blocks that the customers can spin around. This gives people the opportunity to interact with each and every variation of the product in a rapid-fire way, showing what there is to offer.

When entering the showroom, the customer will find themselves on a path that winds its way through the room. Along this path, there is a range of pods that invite the user to enter. These pods, created from Echo Panel, are used to display the noise-cancelling qualities of the product, as well as inform the customer of each stage in the life-cycle of the acoustic panel.

Echo Panel is produced in a variety of fun and bright colours that I felt can be overlooked, especially as it’s a product commonly used in office spaces. Through my design, I wanted to display the fun nature and the versatility of the product. To stick with this fun theme, I wanted to incorporate slightly softer and organic shapes, using PET plastic bottles as inspiration in doing so.
